1. Who we are

Doorlyn (“Doorlyn”, “we”, “us”) is operated by TAYLOR JACS LIMITED, a private limited company registered in Scotland. Our company number, registered office and other details are on our Legal information page. You can contact us at support@taylorjacs.shop or on +44 7157944319.

2. What Doorlyn does

Doorlyn is an online service that turns information you type about a home you let or host — such as arrival instructions, Wi-Fi details, bin days, appliance tips, house notes, local recommendations, contacts and check-out steps — into a designed welcome book. Each book is delivered as a printable PDF of 6 to 12 pages and, on plans that include it, as a mobile link.

Doorlyn arranges your own text. It does not add facts, it does not write tenancy or legal terms, and it does not collect information about your guests or tenants. Illustrations come from AI-generated illustration series made for each style (see section 8).

3. Using Doorlyn

• You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
• You may make a free book without an account. Paid plans require an account with a valid email address.
• Keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for activity on your account; tell us promptly if you think it has been misused.
• If you use Doorlyn for a business, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms for it.

4. Plans and your monthly allowance

• A “book” is counted each time you press “Make my welcome book” and a book is successfully made. Downloading it again, or viewing it in another style, does not count as a new book.
• Allowances reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC time) on every plan, and books made earlier in the same month count towards it. Unused books do not carry over.
• Free books carry a Doorlyn watermark and may be used for personal, non-commercial purposes only.

5. Subscriptions, payment and renewal

• Paid plans are monthly subscriptions. Before you subscribe we show you the plan, the price per month in US dollars, what is included and the date of your next charge, and we ask you to agree separately to automatic renewal.
• Your subscription renews automatically every month at the then-current price and your payment method is charged on each renewal date until you cancel.
• The price shown is the price you pay; any VAT or sales tax we must charge is included. Your bank may charge its own fees for payments in US dollars.
• Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not receive or store your full card details. Charges appear on statements as DOORLYN.
• We send a confirmation when you subscribe (including these terms, your consents and how to cancel) and a receipt for every payment.
• If a payment fails, we may retry it and will tell you. If it cannot be collected, your account moves to the Free plan at the end of the paid period.
• We will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email of any price increase. The new price applies from your next renewal after the notice period; you can cancel before then without charge.
• Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at your next renewal date.

6. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel at any time from your account page with one click, or by emailing us. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for. Your statutory right to cancel within 14 days, when it ends, and our refund commitments are set out in the Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy, which form part of these terms.

7. What you put in a book

You are responsible for the information you enter and for checking the finished book before you use it. You confirm that:

• the information is yours to share and, to the best of your knowledge, accurate;
• you have permission to include any third party’s name or phone number (for example a neighbour or tradesperson);
• you will not include personal information about guests or tenants, tenancy or lease terms, deposits, rent, fines, or legal or compliance statements; and
• your use of Doorlyn follows our Acceptable Use Policy.

Doorlyn checks for some of these things automatically and will not make a book that includes them, but those checks do not replace your own. A welcome book is information for guests; it is not a contract, a safety certificate or a substitute for any notice the law requires you to give.

8. AI-generated content

• The illustrations in Doorlyn books and on this website are generated with AI image models. They are artwork, not photographs of your property, and they contain no lettering.
• Your text is arranged by Doorlyn’s arranger. Where a language model is used to smooth wording, its output is checked against your notes and discarded if it adds numbers, names, links or new content.
• Automated systems can still make mistakes. Check every book — especially codes, Wi-Fi details, times and phone numbers — before sharing it.
• Books carry a visible note and machine-readable metadata identifying AI-generated content. You must not remove or alter those markers, or present the illustrations as photographs of a real property.

9. Ownership and licences

• Your text remains yours. You give us a limited licence to store and process it only to provide Doorlyn to you. We do not use it to train AI models.
• Your books. Subject to these terms, you may print, copy and share the books you make. On paid plans you may use them for commercial purposes, such as in a holiday let or rental business. Books made on the Free plan are for personal, non-commercial use.
• Illustrations and designs (including the illustration series, layouts, typography and the Doorlyn name and logo) belong to us or our licensors. The same illustrations may appear in other hosts’ books. We grant you a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use them as part of your books as described above, but not separately from a book (for example as standalone artwork, logos or in listing photos).
• AI-generated material may not be protected by copyright in every country, and we do not promise that anyone else will not create similar images.

10. Mobile links

On the Host and Lettings plans you can copy a mobile link for each book. The book’s content is carried inside the link itself, so anyone who has the link can read the book. Share it only with the people you intend to, and make a new book if details change.

11. Availability and changes to Doorlyn

We aim to keep Doorlyn available and working well, but it may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We may improve or change features. If we make a change that significantly reduces what a paid plan includes, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any prepaid amount for the rest of that month.

12. Suspension and ending these terms

We may suspend or close an account if it is used in serious or repeated breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, for fraud, or where we are required to by law. Where reasonable we will warn you first and explain why. If we close a paid account without it being in breach, we will refund any prepaid amount for the unused period. You may stop using Doorlyn and delete your account at any time.

13. Your legal rights as a consumer

If you are a consumer in the UK, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you rights: digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and services must be provided with reasonable care and skill. If a book is faulty, you are entitled to have it made again or, if that is not possible or fails, to a price reduction or refund. Consumers in other countries have similar rights under their local laws. Nothing in these terms affects those rights. Advice is available from Citizens Advice (UK) or your national consumer body.

14. Our responsibility for loss or damage

• We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
• If you are a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss and damage caused by our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for business losses, or for loss caused by inaccurate information you entered or by your not checking a book before using it.
• If you use Doorlyn for business, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, revenue, business or goodwill, and our total liability arising from these terms in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in that period and US$100.

15. Personal data

How we use personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy. If you enter another person’s personal data (for example a contact’s name and phone number), you are responsible for having a lawful basis to do so, and we process that data on your behalf and on your instructions only to make and deliver your book, keep it confidential and secure, use only processors bound by equivalent terms, help you respond to data-subject requests, and delete it when you delete the book or your account.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes in law or in Doorlyn. We will give at least 30 days’ notice by email of changes that materially affect paid subscribers. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when these terms were last updated.

17. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the courts of Scotland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your home nation. If you are a consumer living in the European Union or another country, you also keep the protection of any mandatory rules of consumer law in the country where you live.

18. General

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours to another organisation if it does not reduce your rights. No one else has rights under these terms.
